This dissertation is an exposition of the theory of branch groups. We organized this study in two parts. In first part, we discuss the construction and distinctive properties of a finitely generated branch group, the Grigorchuk group. The second part is the study of the characterization theory of branch group. We also see the classification of the just infinite group in which branch groups form a partition.en_US
