Abstract: | Corona pandemic disrupted the education system all over the world. Education shifted to online mode, but it led to the emergence of several issues. In this work, an attempt has been made to understand the issues and experiences of IISER Mohali students in online education during the corona pandemic. A quantitative study was conducted by circulating a Google form questionnaire, and a qualitative study was conducted by interviewing the students. We tried to understand the reason behind the emergence of student issues and the relationship between online education and the political economy of the times. We tried to understand the problems using the three-level digital divide theory and analyzed the data along the axes of caste, class, gender, and urban-rural distinctions. I also reviewed the literature on online education and the institutional and governmental policies related to online education. |
