Abstract: | The philosophical debate about abortion revolves around the question of whether or not a fetus has a right to life, and if so, whether that right outweighs a woman's right to control her own body. Proponents of abortion argue that women should have the right to choose whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term, while opponents argue that a fetus has a right to life from the moment of conception and that this right should be protected. Other philosophical issues related to this debate include the moral status of the fetus, the role of the state in regulating abortion, and the importance of personal autonomy and bodily integrity. The abortion debate is complex and multifaceted, and is still a hot topic in ethics and political philosophy. 7 |
